A 30-person company cannot buy Enterprise at 30 seats, so the honest comparison for most teams is Community versus Nextcloud One, not Community versus Enterprise.
This is the part that surprises people coming from other open-core products. The free Community edition is the same server software with the same apps, sync, sharing, Talk and Groupware. What Enterprise adds is the commercial wrapper: a supported maintenance lifecycle, response-time guarantees, upgrade stand-by, clustered instance support and Nextcloud Guard. You pay for the SLA, not for features.
Both Enterprise and Nextcloud One bill per seat, so cost scales linearly with headcount and never with storage or traffic. Self-hosting inverts that: cost scales with the server and is flat in headcount. A 200-person company on one well-specced box pays roughly what a 20-person company pays, which is why the crossover arrives fast.
Nextcloud Enterprise ships no storage. You attach your own disk, S3 bucket or NAS, and that bill is separate. Nextcloud One does bundle storage, 500 GB for single users and 1,000 GB base for teams, with extra terabytes at 59 euros a month. Comparing One against Enterprise without pricing the storage separately gets the answer wrong.
Enterprise rates drop sharply at 200 users: Standard falls from 71.29 to 53.17 euros, Premium from 104.99 to 81.99, Ultimate from 204.75 to 183.75. That is a 25 percent cut on Standard. If you are provisioning for 170 seats, pricing 200 is worth modelling before you sign.
Nextcloud is a German company and publishes every figure in euros excluding VAT. A US card is billed the euro amount converted at your bank's rate on the day, so the dollar number moves month to month. Any page quoting you a firm US dollar Nextcloud price is converting on your behalf and guessing at the rate.
Under 100 users, Enterprise is off the table regardless of budget. Write your headcount down first, because it eliminates one of the three options outright for most companies and stops you comparing against a price you cannot purchase.
This is the real question underneath the pricing. Community costs a server and your team's attention. Nextcloud One costs per seat and Nextcloud watches it. Enterprise is not purchasable at this size. Nextcloud One is 13 euros per seat per month on the annual plan, so roughly 1,872 euros a year for 12 people with 1,000 GB plus per-member storage included. Self-hosted Community on a $12 to $24 droplet is a few hundred dollars a year plus whoever keeps it patched. The decision is entirely about whether you have that person.
Still under the Enterprise floor. At 40 seats Nextcloud One is about 6,240 euros a year. A 4 GB server running Community handles 40 users comfortably given Nextcloud's 512 MB per process recommendation, and the hardware bill lands near $288 a year. The gap is large enough that most teams this size self-host and spend part of the difference on managing the server properly.
This is the first size where Enterprise is actually available. Files Standard at 71.29 euros is 7,129 euros a year and buys a one-year maintenance lifecycle plus two business day response. Nextcloud One at the same headcount is about 15,600 euros. Community on a bigger box is under $600. What separates them is who answers at 2am, which is a real thing to buy.
Nextcloud One is a hosted service, so it is out by definition if the requirement is data residency on infrastructure you control. That leaves Community or Enterprise, both self-run. Under 100 seats the answer is forced: Community, on a server you provision, with the compliance burden on you rather than on a vendor.

Every one of those prices is subject to the 100-user minimum, which is covered below because it changes the arithmetic more than the tier choice does.
